Looking For: Script that sets the username on next reboot

Recommended Posts

Has anyone seen or created a script that allows you to set what the username should be on next reboot?

We'd like to be able to login to a machine as administrator, perform work then set the next username back to the normal user and have the machine reboot (or logoff).

TransWiz (profile moving tool) has this feature and is what brought it to mind.

Have you thought about using the AutoAdminLogon registry key?

or specify the DefaultUserName - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

No, I hadn't. That would probably work. Prompt for username, set that key, reboot. Was hoping someone had written one already, I don't have any LT scripting experience.

If you're on this forum its kinda expected you'll quickly rack up the experience you don't have by doing things ;)

That’s why I made this script:

You don’t specify the name you want, you just run it before you login and it captures the current user’s information for you.
