In Place Upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10

Recommended Posts

I've placed the code and a readme into a GitLab Repo

This will silently upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 and activate with the existing license key. I've only tested this on Windows 7 Pro machines.

When doing this, be careful if you're subject to audit because although the OS will be activated, you'll be punished by Microsoft if you're found to not have an actual Windows 10 License key.

It's simply to throw the Powershell code into an LT script. If running it outside of LabTech, then be sure to remove the top lines where the %LocationDrive% variable is declared.

I added logic to the script that will find and remove Microsoft Security Essentials if it is installed on a Windows 7 machine. This is incompatible with Windows 10 and will cause silent upgrades to fail if not removed.
